TORRINGTON  – The Torrington Tigers ‘A’ team posted a 9-5 conference victory against the Cheyenne Post No. 6 Eagles at a home game on Sunday, June 30.

The game was initially planned as a double-header before a thunderstorm resulted in the postponement of the second matchup to July 15.

The Tigers established an early 3-1 lead against the Eagles with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Landre Greiman, Mac Hibben and Grady Shields each singled for one run apiece.

Torrington expanded its advantage in the second inning when Greiman ground out for one run. The Tigers collected two runs in the bottom of the third inning when a single by Caleb Kelly resulted in two RBI.

A solid Torrington defense held Cheyenne to a single run in both the first and fifth innings while the Tigers’ fielders shut out the Eagles in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings.

Torrington totaled 12 hits against Cheyenne. Shields set the momentum for the Tigers with three hits for two RBI. Drew Kramer, Rhett Clarke and Kelly each tallied two hits with one apiece by Greiman, Hibben and Ayden Desmond.

Shields started as pitcher for the Tigers, striking out one. Colby Sandusky played relief, also striking out one.

The Tigers played the CBC Post No. 2 Drillers from Casper on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time.

Up next, the Tigers travel to compete at the Douglas Tournament this weekend from July 5-7 followed by an away game against Rawlins on July 9 and a home game versus Wheatland on July 10.
