Tigers ‘A’ trounce Laramie

TORRINGTON – The Torrington Tigers ‘A’ Legion team successfully defended the home field against the Laramie Rangers in a double-header on Tuesday, June 25.

Taking the initiative right out of the gate, the Tigers scored a blow-out 10-0 victory against Laramie in the first game. In the second game, Torrington maintained an early lead it established in the first inning to secure a 10-5 victory.

Game 1

The Tigers found their offensive momentum in the bottom of the third inning with four runs. Mac Hibben drew a walk for one run, an error resulted in the second run and Caleb Kelly singled for two RBI.

Torrington widened its lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and two in the fifth while the Tigers’ fielders completely shut out the Rangers in both innings.

Torrington totaled six hits against Laramie, including two by Drew Kramer and one apiece from Hibben, Kelly, Landre Greiman and Garrett Hager. Hibben and Kelly both collected two RBI.

On the mound, leftie pitcher Hibben proved a formidable force for Tigers through five innings, striking out eight.

Game 2

The Tigers established an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, consisting of a double by Ayden Desmond and a single from Hibben. Torrington remained ahead with one run each in the bottom of the third, fourth and fifth innings.

The Tigers outscored Laramie, 4-3, in the sixth inning. Torrington’s fielders held the Rangers to only two runs in the top of the seventh inning to clinch the win.

Overall, the Tigers tallied nine hits against Laramie in the second game. Kramer, Desmond and Hibben set the pace for Torrington with two hits apiece. Greiman, Grady Shields and Garrett Hager each contributed one hit. Hibben, Shields and Greiman individually posted two RBI.

Desmond started as pitcher for the Tigers, striking out five. Colby Sandusky played relief, striking out two.
