Upcoming chip seal project in Torrington

TORRINGTON – Next week, Torrington will have annual maintenance on roads in town.

Starting Monday, September 9, the City of Torrington will be working on East G Street, from 17th to 27th Avenue, East H Street, from 17th to 24th Avenue, and East I Street, from US Highway 26 to Crestview Drive.

The city signed a $207,788.98 contract with Topkote of Yankton, South Dakota to chip seal these streets.

The contractor will also be triple asphaltic surface treating the streets on Albany Avenue from Laramie to Sheridan Street, and from Sheridan Street from Albany Avenue to the end.

Project manager, Mark Weis, believes the project will only take a couple of days and asks that locals do not park on these streets during the upcoming construction.

Weis said there may be a point where access to driveways in this area may be limited but suggested it may only be for about 20 minutes at most. This is to protect the roads while oil and chips are being placed.
