TORRINGTON – Brian Young starts this week as the new CEO of Go Goshen. Many residents of Goshen County know Go Goshen through its active Facebook page, Events calendar, Goshen Bucks program, and tourism initiatives. Those are, however, just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Go Goshen’s efforts to attract and grow businesses in the county.

While many counties designate separate offices for tourism, the Chamber of Commerce, and Economic Development, Goshen County integrates all these functions under the Go Goshen umbrella. This unified structure offers unique opportunities for collaboration but also requires a strong leader to drive its success. Enter Brian Young, who brings with him to Go Goshen decades of experience nurturing both emerging and established businesses in the ever-evolving economic landscape.

Young comes to Go Goshen from IMPACT 307, a University of Wyoming initiative dedicated to helping business owners thrive across the state. In that role, Young has already spent time in Torrington and the surrounding towns supporting business founders. Additionally, he is an entrepreneur himself, having spent 13 years as the founder and leader of Pearl Street Enterprises, where he guided new businesses through crucial initial stages, including financing, business planning, legal structuring, and team building.

Young’s credentials are equally notable: a Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law, an MBA from the University of Wyoming, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder.

With his rich blend of hands-on and academic experience, Young is poised to make a significant impact at Go Goshen, championing the growth and success of local businesses.

“Brian’s wealth of experience and comprehensive knowledge in business and law make him an invaluable new leader of our organization,” Jeff Jones, President of the Board of Directors at Go Goshen, said. Or, as Young puts it, “I know how to mentor businesses, whether it’s a high-tech company or a flower shop on Main Street.”

According to Young, Goshen County is a prime location for new and growing businesses due to its agricultural sector, Eastern Wyoming College, and strategic location – assets that local businesses can capitalize on. Above all, Young emphasizes the true strength of Goshen County’s economy lies in its residents, who have supported local businesses for many years.

In his new role, Young aims to “expand awareness of the programs and opportunities we offer for businesses and individuals throughout the county,” including state and federal grants and resources available through the Chamber of Commerce.

Describing Go Goshen as a one-stop shop, he encourages county residents to reach out and explore resources tailored to their needs. Young’s goal is to use his time at Go Goshen to leverage its multifaceted approach to economic development to nurture existing businesses, attract new ventures, and generate jobs and other opportunities for everyone in the area for years to come.
