TORRINGTON – Wyoming Senator John Barrasso and Representative Harriet Hageman cruised to victories in the August 21, 2024 primary election, while JD Williams and Scott Smith took home wins in House District 02 and 05, respectively.

Williams will represent Goshen, Weston and Niobrara County as Wyoming House of Representative District 02 on the ballot in November. In Goshen County, Allen Slagle picked up 387 votes to Williams’ 350 and in Weston County, Williams tallied 578 votes to Slagle’s 576. Williams was elected with 599 votes in Niobrara County, thereby unseating incumbent Allen Slagle. Slagle took home 296 votes.

Smith tallied 1,554 votes in Goshen County for District 05, knocking off challenger Jackie Van Mark, who finished with 891 votes.

Justin Burkart won his re-election bid for Goshen County Commissioners. Burkart tallied 2,027 votes to Diane Foster’s 1,064.

For Torrington City Council, both Dennis Kelly and Richard Warren won seats, as the council had two seats up for re-election. Kelly tallied 902 votes and Warren finished with 691. There were 22 write-in votes for the primary.

Barrasso will move forward with his reelection bid after knocking out opponents Reid Rasner and John Holtz in the Primary Election. Barrasso earned 70,437 votes statewide and 2,341 from Goshen County residents. Rasner received 609 local votes and 25,424 across the state. Holtz brought up the rear with 7,867 total votes, 191 of which were local.

Barrasso will face Scott D. Morrow in November. Morrow ran unopposed and earned 10,088 from statewide Dems and 152 locally.

Hageman cruised to an even easier victory than Barrasso did Tuesday. She beat Steven R. Helling 82,765 votes to 19,738; locally, Hageman tallied 2,748 votes to Helling’s 388. Democrat Kyle G. Cameron, who ran unopposed, received 10,047 to advance to November, when he’ll face Hageman. Locally, Cameron received 148 votes.
