DOUGLAS – Sindy Ray (Bath) Olson, 71, passed away to her heavenly home Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Douglas.

She was born Friday, November 14, 1952, in Torrington, to her parents, Ivan Leroy and Minnie Elizabeth (Schreiner) Bath. Sindy was raised on a farm with her parents and five siblings. She attended schools at Huntley and Goshen Hole and graduated high school in 1970. She was a member of 4-H, she was involved in sports and cheerleading, and was crowned homecoming queen her senior year. Sindy was a member of the marching band and was a baton twirler. Sindy was a very good swimmer. She even saved her sister, Shelley, and Shelley’s friend, Joyce, from drowning in the North Platte River. 

Growing up on a farm, Sindy learned the value of hard work. She worked as a brown and powder line operator at Holly Sugar in Torrington, she was a brakeman for Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and she was a guard for NARM. At the end of her career, she transported railroaders. Sindy loved gardening and her flowers, crocheting, cooking and baking, especially cabbage burgers and butter balls and noodles.

Sindy loved her family. She loved to spend time with her siblings, children and grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sindy also loved Jesus. She came to know, love, and follow Him.

Sindy was preceded in death by her father, Ivan, on June 11, 2010, and mother, Minnie, on September 8, 2019; two nieces, Amanda and Jamie; great nephew, William; and great niece, Ryan Marie. 

She was survived by her siblings, Sharon Notman (Jerry), Sandra Heil (Gary), Susan Travis, Shelley Carruthers (RB), and John Bath (Donna); her children, Sheila Crummer (Montey), Aaron Cecil, Kiley Cecil, and Tyrel Flury (Tina); fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the Cobblestone Hotel Meeting Room, 1306 Main Street, Torrington with Pastor Montey Crummer officiating.

The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas is assisting with the arrangements.
