James Leroy Bye

LA GRANGE – James Leroy Bye met his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2024. He was born in Torrington on October 29, 1972. Graveside service will be held July 2, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the La Grange Cemetery. 

He was active in little league baseball as a youngster. He later moved to Texas where he graduated from New Diana High School with honors in 1991. He then attended Texas A & M and studied Wildlife Management. He moved back to Nebraska to take care of his father in the mid 1990s. 

He met Lynette Kessler in 2009 and married her in 2010. They moved La Grange in 2012 where he spent his final years. He never gave up his love of the outdoors and wildlife. He loved to share his knowledge with the younger generations. He also had a love for children and helped raise many that were not his as well as young adults who were struggling. 

He is survived by his wife Lynette Bye of La Grange, mother Linda Bye of Kilgore, Texas, sisters Cherie (Kenyon) Boldan of Show Low, Arizona, Shelley Hart of Texas, Becky (John) Whitney of Onalaska, Texas, and Rena Miller of Douglas. Sons Joe (Crystal) Phillips of Ishpeming, Minnesota. Jim Palmer of Chadron. Daughters Marrissa (Trevor) Holmes of Powder River, Wyoming, Brittney Ovando of Omaha. As well as many other adopted children. 

He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Jim Bye, stepmother Carolyn Bye, and an infant son. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Wyoming Game and Fish.
