DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School cross-country team swept the Douglas invitational hosted by the municipal golf course on Friday, September 20, featuring four Goshen County harriers in the top 10 in varsity 5K races.

Southeast High School junior Kaycee Kosmicki captured gold in the girls’ varsity 5K, posting a time of 21 minutes, 13.00 seconds. Torrington High School senior Callie Taylor bagged silver, clocking in with a time of 22:19.00.

The third-place finisher in the girls’ 5K – Jaden Meyer of Douglas – trailed the Goshen County frontrunners by 28 seconds at 22:47.

In the boys’ varsity 5K, Lingle-Fort Laramie High School junior Sullivan Wilson clinched gold, crossing the finish line at 17:45.00. Wilson beat the runner-up, Bodey Kejr of Douglas, by nearly 40 seconds.

Southeast freshman Cole Tregemba rounded out top 10 finishes by placing fourth in boys’ varsity with a time of 18:45.00.

Freshman Ty Haeffelin placed 28th in boys’ varsity with a time of 25:45.00. Junior Brody Harrison came in 35th place at 27:46.00.

“What a fantastic day at Douglas,” coach Kelsey Grant said. “Our team had an impressive showing with four runners finishing in the top 10. Douglas is notorious for its challenging hill and I couldn’t be prouder of how our athletes tackled it head on. Next week, we take on a new course that Torrington has never ran before in Estes Park, Colorado.”
