Quilts Along the Platte highlights work of local quilters

TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Quilters and Sew Addicting quilt shop proudly presented the 30th annual Quilts Along the Platte quilt show from September 20 to September 22 at the Goshen County Fairgrounds. This year’s event featured over 200 stunning quilts, showcasing a diverse array of styles including hand-stitched pieces, embroidered creations, wall hangings, art quilts, and innovative designs made from recycled materials.

Visitors also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilt in each category for the People’s Choice Award. Attendees also had the chance to participate in a quilt raffle sponsored by the Wyoming State Quilt Guild and explore a boutique featuring handmade items for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Goshen County Quilters. Local vendors, including Platte Valley Vac and Sew, Sew Ewe Quilt Shop, and Journey Back Quilts, offered a treasure trove of quilting supplies and conducted demonstrations on various quilting techniques. B&V Coffee Café from La Grange provided concessions throughout the event.

A standout feature of the show was a display of nearly 150 quilts crafted for the families of soldiers currently deployed with the 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery National Guard unit based in Torrington. The quilts were a monumental effort from the Goshen County Quilters and will be distributed to the families later this year.
