Be still be for the Lord

My mind is blank. Lord, I don’t know what you want me to say. I don’t have a story or a memory. I have prayed about what you would have me to say, and it seems as if you today, that you are silent.

I am not comfortable with silence. I am just sure in my own mind that God gave us airspace and words to be used! One of our neighbors stops by on occasion. He and Greg will set at our kitchen bar with a cup of coffee. They are very comfortable sitting in a very companionable silence. They will get around to their conversation, but for the moment they are simply enjoying a cup of coffee. I have to leave the room, because I practically begin to twitch if the silence is drawn out too long. I don’t want to fill the airspace with absolute chatter, so I quietly go about my way. By the end of their time together, the coffee is gone, the problems of the world are solved and they go about their business.

I remember when Greg and I were dating. I really didn’t care what the topic of conversation was, or actually if there was one. I was just so happy to be with him. God, that’s how I feel with you. We have known each other long enough that I will trust you in the silence. It doesn’t mean you are mad, or you have left, it just means we are spending some quiet time together. You know my aversion to silence and that I want to fill it with meaningless words, but you have been so faithful to teach me that there is value to silence. Sometimes when things are silent, I hear you the loudest.

So today, I will sit with you in the silence. I will continue to pray and praise, as I patiently and expectantly wait.

Psalm 27:14-Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Psalm 37:7-Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;

So it’s up to you friends as you sit in the silence with me to ask God what he would have you think about and learn. I am so excited to see what he has for all of us.
