LFL and SE scrimmage

PINE BLUFFSBoth the Lingle-Fort Laramie (LFL) and Southeast high school football teams traveled to Pine Bluffs for a series of scrimmages on Friday, August 30. Scores and stats were not kept at the event.

The scrimmage featured a round robin between LFL, Southeast and Pine Bluffs with an opportunity for each team to play each other.

While the scrimmages will not count toward either team’s season record, the informal event provided an opportunity for both Southeast and LFL to test their starting lineups in a competition environment.

“I felt really good about how we performed at our scrimmage,” LFL coach Brandon Gifford said. “The kids played hard and got in some really good live reps against other teams. We were able to get looks at multiple positions and find the areas where we can continue to get better. I thought we tackled really well for the first time out of the gate and protected the ball well. We need to continue to improve on our blocking and get comfortable with the schemes that we want to run. Overall, it was a solid performance, and the kids played hard throughout the scrimmage. Very positive start for us and the season.”

The regular season kicks off this weekend, with Southeast hosting Big Piney on Friday at 1 p.m. LFL hosts Wind River later that evening at 6 p.m.
