

Torrington, Southeast preseason ranked No. 1

TORRINGTON – On Wednesday morning, Wyopreps.com released their preseason rankings for the upcoming season.
Torrington and Southeast are preseason ranked No. 1 in their respective classes.
The Blazers, last season’s Class 2A runners-up, picked up 11 of the possible 18 first-place votes. Wheatland comes in at No. 2, while Mountain View is third. Lyman is fourth and Lovell fifth.
In the Class 1A 9-Man division, the defending state champion Cyclones are picked to win it again in 2021. They received nine of a possible 15 first-place votes. Last season’s runner-up, the Lusk Tigers, are second, while Shoshoni is third. Pine Bluffs and Rock Mountain round out the top five.
Lingle-Fort Laramie is receiving votes in the 9-Man rankings, earning a fourth and a fifth-place vote.
Torrington opens the season Friday at home against Gering, Nebraska with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Southeast opens the season on the road at Shoshoni, while Lingle-Fort Laramie travels to Wind River on Friday, Sept. 3. Both the Cyclone and Dogger games begin at 5 p.m.
