Tigers drop two to Gillette

GILLETTE – The Torrington Tigers 15-and-under baseball team hit the road Sunday for a double-header against Gillette, losing the first 11-4 and the second 12-2.
In the first contest, Cameron Murphy had a solid game at the plate, going 2-of-2 including a double and a triple. He also drew two walks and scored two runs. Sam Firminhac went 3-of-4, with all three of his hits coming in the form of singles. He was also hit by a pitch and scored a run.
Firminhac and Teddy Carr combined for all four RBI in the loss, with each accounting for two. Carr went 2-of-3 at the plate, with both of his hits coming as singles.
Firminhac continued his hot day at the plate in the second game, going 1-of-2. He added an RBI and a run to his stat line. Daniel Wayland knocked in another run, going 1-of-2. Nick Sherbeyn had a hit and a run to his credit.
The Tigers dropped to 2-2 on the season. Their next competition comes on the road Thursday against Gering, Neb. The double-header is set to start at 5 p.m., with the second game set for 7 p.m. On Friday, Torrington hosts Kimball, Neb. for a double-header, with the games set for 5 and 7 p.m.
