THS runners compete at conference meet

DOUGLAS – The Torrington High School cross country team traveled to Douglas for the 2020 Absaraka Cross Country Meet last Thursday.

The Lady Blazers finished the day fifth among the 3A East Conference schools.

Senior Sera Glass led the way with a sixth-place finish in 20 minutes, 55 seconds. Junior Tyne Stokes finished 22nd in 23:32, while freshman Ada Merrigan was 24th in 23:42. Sophomores Amberly Froerer and Kyndra Wiford placed 27th and 43rd, respectively.

As a team, the Lady Blazers scored 122 points. Buffalo won the team title with 36, while Rawlins was second with 47.

In the boys’ division, sophomore Aydan Loya led the Blazers with a 20th-place finish in 19:31. Junior Weston Cronk placed 29th in 20:08, while freshman Myles Wilson finished 34th in 20:49. Senior Timothy Randolph finished the run in 21:52 to finish 41st.

The Blazers didn’t record a team score. Worland won the conference title with 49 points, while Newcastle was second with 70.

The Blazers wrap up the season next week at the Wyoming State 3A Cross Country Championships in Afton on Saturday, Oct. 24. The girls’ race is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the boys to follow at 11:45.
