Southeast Cyclones drop final two regular season games

GLENROCK – The Southeast Cyclones were unable to score 10 or more points in any quarter over their last two games, falling to Pine Bluffs Friday, 60-16, and Glenrock Saturday, 37-27.

Pine Bluffs 60, Southeast 16
The Cyclones fell behind early against the Hornets at home, facing an 18-5 deficit after the first quarter. Pine Bluffs expanded on their lead, taking a 34-11 advantage into intermission. In the third quarter, Southeast was outscored 20-3. Both teams had a majority of their bench players in the game during the fourth quarter, where they combined for eight total points.
Brady Fullmer was the top-scorer for the Cyclones, pouring in seven points on 50 percent shooting from the floor. He added two rebounds, an assist and a steal to his stat sheet.

Dalton Keller (3), Sterling Werner (2), Chance Werner (2) and Cade Herring (2) were the only other Southeast players to score.
Sterling Werner and Jacob Schmitt timed for the team-lead in boards, with four apiece. Keller, Connor Humphrey and Ryley Lane each hauled in two rebounds. Keller topped the list in steals, with two.
In the loss, the Cyclones mustered a 26 percent shooting average, while Pine Bluffs shot 61 percent from the field. Southeast hit 1-of-6 from behind the arc and only 1-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Glenrock 37, Southeast 27
Against Glenrock, Southeast held a 6-4 lead after one quarter and a 14-12 lead at the break. The Herders came back to tie the game at 18 heading into the final frame, where they outscored Southeast 19-9 to get the win.
Chance Werner racked up 14 points, which was tied for the game-high. He shot 50 percent from the field, including two drained three-pointers. He also tied for the team-lead with five rebounds and added an assist and four steals to his stat line.
Sterling Werner, with six, and Keller, with three, rounded out the top-scorers for the Cyclones. They combined for a rebound, two assists and a steal. Schmitt racked up six blocks along with five rebounds, two steals and two points.
Southeast hit only 7-of-31 from the field. Twenty-two of its shot attempts came from behind the arc, where the Cyclones nailed five. They were sent to the free-throw line 15 times, knocking down eight shots.
With the two losses, Southeast dropped to 11-11 on the season. Their 3-5 record in the conference was good enough for the fourth seed heading into the regional tournament. To get the action started, the Cyclones play Big Horn Thursday at 7 p.m.
