Sandusky second at Gering cross country meet

GERING, Neb. – Torrington sophomore Michael Sandusky finished second to lead the Blazer cross country team at the Gering Invite on Friday, Sept. 6.

Sandusky finished the run in 19 minutes, 5 seconds, only four seconds behind event winner Alec Garcia of Alliance, Neb.

Freshman Aydan Loya crossed the finish line in 19:58 for an 11th-place finish, while sophomore Weston Cronk was 14th in 20:22.

In the junior varsity ranks, senior Angel Alsides placed 20th in 22:27, while junior Gabriel Perez was 59th in 27:46.

In the girls’ division, senior Cora Frederick was the lone Lady Blazer to compete at the varsity level. Frederick finished eighth in 23:07.

In the junior varsity race, senior Bridgette Lowther finished 15th in 26:23, while sophomore Jazmyne West was 20th in 27:58.

Both Blazer teams return to action at the Kimball, Neb., Invite on Friday, Sept. 13.
