CASPER – The North picked up a 49-7 win over the South in the 44th annual Shrine Bowl on Saturday in Casper, despite the South striking first.
Torrington’s Logan Harris got the South started on the right foot, winning the coin toss. The South elected to receive the opening kickoff and it paid off. In less than two minutes, the South scored on an 11-yard pass from Mountain View’s Dane Covington to Douglas’ Gage Pitt.
After the South’s score, the North punched in two touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead after the first frame. By halftime, the North led 28-7. The second half was all North, as they piled on three more touchdowns to snag the win by the biggest margin of victory in Wyoming Shrine Bowl history.

Riverton’s Brady Fullerton was the offensive MVP of the game, racking up 134 passing yards and three touchdowns on 10-of-19 passing. Tongue River’s Brennan Kutterer amassed 11 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception to earn the defensive MVP award.
Harris played both sides for the South. He took every snap on offense at the right guard position and spent some time on the defensive line. While on defense, the former Blazer racked up two tackles. Southeast’s Jacob Schmitt spent time on special teams and at tight end.
North Platte Physical Therapy’s Emily Yorges was the official team trainer for the South, spending the week in Casper with the team.
The North picked up its eighth win in the past 10 years, improving their recent record to 8-1-1. They lead the all-time series, 23-18-3.
