TORRINGTON – There was discussions of not having a GoWyo fall soccer season, but league organizer Rod Miller had better plans.
“We were sitting around talking, and we were thinking we weren’t going to have a season,” he said.
Instead, there will be a season, and GoWyo will offer free registration to all players.
“Let’s have a season, but let’s make it free to give back from GoWyo to the community,” Miller said.
Registration is ongoing through Monday, Sept. 7 and can be done via the leagues website, gowyosoccer.com.
Right now, Miller has just shy of 300 players registered for the season. GoWyo normally sees between 200-250 players for the fall season.
“It’s pretty amazing,” Miller said. “We’ve had a ton of people are signing up. Some are ones I’ve never heard of before, and then we have the ones who have played before. It’s going to be a good season.”
Practice begins Tuesday, Sept 8 with games beginning Sept. 12 and running through Oct. 3.
“We’ll only have four weekends unless the weather is beautiful, then we might go a little longer,” Miller said. “We’ll have Saturday games, but we might also have some weekday games because we have so many kids.”
