WORLAND – Torrington High School senior golfer Gage Gibson rebounded after a first opening round to end the weekend with 3A East All-Conference honors at the weekend conference golf tournament in Worland.

Gibson shot a round of 93 on Thursday and battled back with a round of 83 on Friday to finish ninth for a two-day total of 176.

“Gage was fortunate to get back to all conference after a tough day on Thursday,” coach Jeff Halley said.

Alex Waring finished 16th after rounds of 90 and 96, while Braeden Reid shot 95 and 94 to place 17th. Mason Wilkes shot a pair of 97s to finish 21st, while Caleb Kelly had rounds of 101 and 105 to place 32nd.

As a team, the Blazers finished fifth with a two-day total of 745. Riverton won the team title with a 634, while Worland was second with 710. Buffalo was third with 717.

In the girls’ division, Kayleigh Waymire finished two spots out of earning a spot on the all-conference team.

She finished 12th following rounds of 109 and 118. Madyson Banister was 15th with rounds of 110 and 123, while Kaylee Pittman had rounds 121 and 115. Madison Gibson fired two rounds of 122 to place 20th.

“It wasn’t our best weekend of the year,” Halley said. “Many of our kids started well, but the weather moved in, and we had a lightning delay. Nearly everyone’s second nine holes on Thursday were worse than before the delay, and we continued to struggle in the rain and cold on Friday.”

The Blazer teams head to Buffalo Friday and Saturday to wrap up the 2022 season. Action gets underway at 10 a.m. both days.
