LAMAR, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team won the tournament hosted by Lamar Community College, finishing the fall season winning five out of six tournaments.

The Lancers shot 594, placing them 16 strokes ahead of McCook Community College, who finished second with a score of 610.

“We were happy to get out of Lamar with a win,” EWC coach Zach Smith said. “Overall, we didn’t play the best as a team, but it was enough to get a team and individual win to close out the final season.”

Tomas Kubata, freshman, Praque, Czech Republic, won the tournament with scores of 71 and 68 for a total 139.

“Tomas has been playing very well all season, so I was happy to see him get another individual win,” Smith said. “He is now sitting second place in the region. We sit in the four top spots in the region and five out of the top eight spots for first and second team all-region points as we finish out the fall season.”

The Lancer golf team will begin the spring season March 19-20 in LaJunta, Colo.
