EWC golf team closes out fall season with a win

LAMAR, Colo. – The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team finished the fall season with a win at the Lamar Community College tournament.

The Lancers had a two-day team total of 593, McCook Community College was second with 599.

Sophomore Trey Massey, Lander, tied for first in the tournament with a 144 (72-72).  Other Lancer scores were as follows: Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain – 73,73 – 146, third; George Elliott, freshman, Salisbury, UK – 75,76 – 151, sixth; Jared Pilkington, sophomore, Scottsbluff, Neb. – 76,76 – 152, tied for seventh; Kash Kaufman, freshman, Torrington – 80,81 – 161; Cameron Heath, freshman, Bolton, UK – 82,85 – 167.

"We really needed this win to finish out the fall season. I'm proud of the way the guys played, and it was fun to see Trey get his third win,” coach Zach Smith said. “The team is anxious to buckle down in the classroom, start up a team workout routine, and keep practicing both indoors and outdoors in between seasons. We are already looking forward to the competitive spring season.”

The Lancers will kick off the spring season March 22-23 in Otero.
