KAYCEE – Garrett Cooper and Justice Madayag scored in double-figures in the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers’ 55-46 road loss against Kaycee on Friday.
Cooper led the Doggers in scoring, with 15 points. He shot 6-of-8 from the field and added three points from the free-throw line. Cooper chipped in a team-high seven rebounds and two assists. Madayag had 11 points of his own on 5-of-8 shooting, to go along with three rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Ty Mueller, with nine points, Taylor Wagner, with six, and Dallen Fleenor, with five, rounded out the scorers for LFL. The three combined for six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Fleenor and Mueller knocked down the Doggers’ only two three-pointers in the game.
As a team, the Doggers shot 53 percent from the field. They were able to only hit 2-of-7 from behind the arc. LFL was sent to the line only five times, while it sent Kaycee to the charity stripe for 21 shots, where the Buckaroos hit 14.
LFL 44, Rock River 32
After the loss on Friday, LFL bounced back Saturday to pick up a win at home over Rock River.
Madayag recorded a double-double against the Longhorns with 12 points and 10 boards, along with four assists and six steals. The senior shot 4-of-5 from inside the arc and knocked down a three-pointer.
Mueller was the only other Dogger in double-figures with 10 points, including six from behind the arc. He added two rebounds, two assists and LFL’s two blocks to his stat sheet. Brandon Hill had nine points, three rebounds and a steal, while Cooper chipped in eight points, 10 boards, three assists and a steal. Eight of Cooper’s rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor.
Four Doggers nailed three-pointers in the win on 5-of-13 team shooting from behind the arc. LFL shot 40 percent from the field and 71 percent from the charity stripe.
After the two weekend games, the Doggers still hold the best record in their conference at 12-6. To close out their regular season, LFL heads to Burns at 7 p.m. on Friday and hosts 2A’s top-ranked Pine Bluffs on Saturday with a scheduled 4 p.m. tip-off.
