LINGLE – The Lingle-Fort Laramie boys’ basketball team fell to Encampment and Kaycee in a Friday doubleheader as part of the Dogger Classic.

The Doggers opened the afternoon with a 65-30 loss to the Encampment Tigers.

The visitors raced out to a 10-1 lead before senior Ty Prall scored the first field goal of the game. It was the first of only two field goals by L-FL in the first quarter.

As the Doggers struggled to find the bottom of the net, Encampment did not.

After eight minutes of play, the Tigers held a 21-6 lead.

It was a lead which grew the entire game.

The Doggers shot only 29% (10-of-35) from the floor.

Prall led L-FL with 11 points, while freshman Nolan Spears added six. Senior Hunter Hattan tossed in five. Prall and sophomore Owen Schilreff grabbed a team-high three rebounds each.

In the afternoon session, the Doggers led Kaycee 12-11 after a quarter, but the wheels fell off for L-FL in the second quarter.

Kaycee outscored Lingle 13-0 in the second half to take a 24-12 lead into halftime.

The Buckaroos managed to keep their lead at double-digits for the remainder of the game.

A half-court shot by senior Cordell Forkner at the end of the third drew the Doggers within 10 at 41-31, but in the fourth quarter, Kaycee pushed its lead back to 13 by the final horn.

Forkner led the Doggers with 15 points, while Prall added seven. Hattan and Spears had six points each.

The Doggers (0-4) return to action on Friday, Jan. 8 at Crawford, Neb. (2-5). Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. L-FL returns home on Saturday, Jan. 9 to face Guernsey-Sunrise at 4 p.m.
