Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling go 3-1

LINGLE – It was a busy week for the Lingle-Fort Laramie/Southeast wrestling team. It was also a successful week as the team went 3-1 in dual action.

The weekend began with a 42-31 road victory in Mitchell, Neb.

After dropping the opening match at 170 pounds, senior Ethan Steinhausen put the LFLSE team on the scoreboard with a pin at 182 pounds.

Mitchell won matches at 220 and 285 pounds, but at 106 pounds, Grant Logsdon picked up a fall victory.

The win was the first of five straight wins for LFLSE.

Brock Blevins (113 pounds), Kaleb Brothwell (120), Wyatt Sylvester (126) and Jaden Houk (132) all scored pins to give the visitors a 36-15 lead.

Michell rebounded with wins at 138, 145 and 152, but the Tigers were open at 160, giving Lance York and LFLSE six more points to secure the victory.

The next day, the team hosted the Goshen County Quad.

LFLSE went 2-1 to win the quad.

The team opened the day with its only loss, falling 36-29 to the Wright Panthers.

The Panthers won the first five matches to take a 24-0 lead.

After a double forfeit at 195 pounds, Jessy Valentine won by forfeit at 220 pounds, giving LFLSE its first points of the day.

Junior Will Baker got a pin at 285 for LFLSE. Logsdon was open at 106 and both teams were open at 113.

Brothwell and Houk capped off the loss with victories.

In the next round, LFLSE defeated Burns/Pine Bluffs, 42-32.

LFLSE spotted the visitors an 11-0 lead, playing catchup for much of the match.

After losses at 152 and 160, Taylor Swartwood got LFLSE on the scoreboard with a fall at 170 pounds.

Burns/Pine Bluffs got wins at 182 and 195, but Valentine sparked the rally with a 6-0 decision win at 220 pounds.

Baker and Logsdon won by fall to give LFLSE a 21-20 lead.

Burns/Pine Bluffs got an open win at 113, but Sylvester put his team back in front with a fall at 120.

Blevins and Houk got pins, and Cooper Fauber (138 pounds) won a 5-4 decision to push the LFLSE lead to 42-20. Burns/Pine Bluffs capped off the dual with a win at 145.

In the final match of the day, LFLSE edged the Wheatland Bulldogs, 36-34.

The Bulldogs won the first three matches at 160, 170 and 182 pounds.

LFLSE’s first points of the dual came at 220 and 285 where Wheatland was open.

Logsdon got the first win of the dual at 106 pounds with a 26 second pin. Blevins and Sylvester got wins at 120 and 126. Fauber got the final win of the dual at 138 pounds.

The LFLSE team will be back in action Saturday at the Blazer Duals in Torrington. Action will get underway at 10 a.m. at Willi Gym.
