GLENROCK – The Southeast High School girls’ basketball team picked up a 37-21 road victory over the Glenrock Lady Herders on Friday evening.

Sophomore Brenna Herring led the Lady Cyclones with a double-double, recording 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Kealy Carson added 12 points and seven steals, while junior Grace Desmond dished out four assists.

“We didn’t play as well as we should have, “ Southeast coach Jennifer Scheer said, attributing the issues to focus.

Southeast jumped out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter, extending the lead to 28-15 by halftime.

Over the course of the game, the Lady Cyclones took twice the shots as Glenrock, limiting the Lady Herders to only nine shot attempts in the second half.

“The defense was good in the second half,” Scheer said.

Southeast held Glenrock to only six points in the second half, including none over the final eight minutes of the game.

The Lady Cyclones (10-5) are back in action at home on Friday evening against Pine Bluffs (6-7) before hitting the road on Saturday to Lusk to face the Niobrara County Lady Tigers (7-7). Action gets underway at 5:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
