Junior Legion team splits with Cheyenne


TORRINGTON – With both teams having limited pitchers available for use on Tuesday evening following the weekend tournament in Cheyenne, the Torrington Tiger junior American Legion baseball team split with the Cheyenne Indians at Jirdon Park.

In game one, the heart of the Cheyenne order tallied seven runs on eight hits in a 12-7 win over the Tigers.

Austin Short, Ayden Desmond and Ben Firminhac combined for six hits for the Tigers.

In the second game, Firminhac went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a two-RBI double in the fifth inning to carry Torrington to a 6-5 win.

Bryce Hager got the win, striking out five on 101 pitches. Desmond got the save.

The game was tied at two in the third inning and both teams added a run in the fourth inning.

In the next inning, the Tigers scored three to grab control of the game.

The Tigers are now 10-6 on the season, and will face Wheatland at noon on Sunday, June 16.
