GOSHEN COUNTY – Southeast High School graduate Sasha Haines will represent Goshen County at the annual all-star games hosted by the Wyoming Coaches Association (WCA) in Casper this summer. Haines garnered a spot on the all-star volleyball roster for the South Team.

Only the best athletes from across Wyoming make the highly selective all-star list. A committee of high school coaches comb through dozens of ranked volleyball and basketball seniors to choose the top 10 finalists from the northern and southern regions of the state, according to the WCA’s press release.

“This all-star week was originated to recognize the best seniors in their individual sport allowing them to compete in a highly honored event,” the release added.

The all-star volleyball and basketball games take place in Casper on Saturday, July 20. The volleyball game between the North and South teams is scheduled for 1 p.m. that day in Casper College’s Thunderbird Gym.

Athletes arrive in Casper on Wednesday, July 17, for a grueling three-day schedule of practices. Athletes also have the opportunity to spend time with youth in the Casper community through Make-a-Wish, the Special Olympics and Boys and Girls Clubs.

Kassidy Johnson of Douglas will serve as head coach for the South volleyball team, assisted by Anndee McKinney (Burns) and Jessie Underberg (Douglas).

The South team’s roster includes Haines, Reagan Davis (Pinedale), Bryli Groll (Cokeville), Brooke Hansen (Burns), Kate Walker (Mountain View), Reagan Teichert (Cokeville), Mikayla Christiansen (Star Valley), Savannah Kirkbride (Burns), Kallea Pitts (Mountain View), Mylie Micheli (Mountain View), Taylor Maxwell (Douglas) and Mya Hutchings (Mountain View).

Haines played libero for the Lady Cyclones volleyball team coached by Monica Anderson throughout the 2023 season. The WCA recognized Haines’ talent and leadership on the court with 2023 1A all-state and 1A Southeast all-conference honors.

Haines and her teammates on the Lady Cyclones captured second place at the 2023 1A East regional tournament and went on to place fourth at state.
