TORRINGTON – According to a recent press release the Scottsbluff Valley Street Rods (SVSR) will be hosting another spectacular event on Saturday, September 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Perhaps you have heard of them, they’ve been around for 51 years. 2023 was the 50th anniversary year for the club. Organized by three individuals who were all from the Scottsbluff area back in 1973, are all still alive and well and still live in the area,” the release explained.

“Since 1999, SVSR has organized a fall car show which were based in various locations around Torrington: Jirdon Park, Pioneer Park and Main Street, Torrington. For the last several years, the Classic Cars on Main fall show has been exclusively on Main Street. Over the years, the cars in attendance has changed from the “classic hot rod-type vehicles” to include all the really nice factory cars and trucks being produced for a number of years,” according to the press release.

This year, Doug Mercer explained to the Torrington City Council, the event will be larger than previous years as they have also added a petting zoo and other fun activities for the community.

“These days, the SVSR Fall Car Show has expanded beyond what some would have identified as a ‘Gear-Head fest’, to include various goods vendors and also food vendors. But the show segment which has expanded the most are the activities for the kids,” the release explained. “We have bounce houses, various activities for the kids to win prizes and this year we will have a petting zoo and a model car contest and swap meet.”

“The point is, it’s not just a gear-head thing anymore, but a community event, welcoming all for a good time and the chance to view cars which you may not have ever seen before,” the release explained.
