Wayne Lawson Bates

TORRINGTON – No services are planned at this time for Wayne Lawson Bates, 67, who died in a motorcycle accident on June 19, 2023. Cremation has taken place. The Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with the cremation arrangements. 

Wayne was born December 5, 1955 in Tucson, Arizona the son of Thomas and Marilyn (Domangue) Bates. He moved a lot with his military family and received his education in those places. He married Sharon Davis and they were later divorced. He joined the US Army and served during Desert Storm. After his discharge he pursued and received his Masters Degree. He then worked for over 20 years in the Scottsbluff, Nebraska school system as a psychologist. 

Wayne enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting rattlesnakes, hunting, fishing, working outdoors doing farmhand work and traveling. 

Wayne is survived by a son Thomas (Roxanne) Bates of Central City, Nebraska; two daughters Jessica (R.J.) Pajimola of San Marcos, California and Shannon (Deavion) Schmitt of Dawson, Georgia; a brother Chet (Cheryl) Bates of Bellevue, Nebraska; and five grandchildren Andrew and Isaac Bates of Central City, Kristen and Karisma Pajimola of San Marcos and Karl Thomas Schmitt of Dawson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters Kathy Uptegrove and Marilyn Drake.
