LUBBOCK, Texas – Richard “Buzz” Bussell, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Colyer Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Cody Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be directed to Meals On Wheels.

Buzz was born on May 24, 1928 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was adopted by Henry and Katherine Bussell, who lived in Huntley, where he was raised. Buzz married Vivian Foote of Torrington on Sept. 26, 1952 in Brush, Colo. The couple was married for 56 years until her death on Feb. 23, 2008.  
He was a veteran of the Korean War. Buzz worked for J.C. Penney for 45 years starting in Boulder, Colo., and working his way up to manager of many stores in Colorado and New Mexico. The couple retired and moved to Fort Collins, Colo. They later moved to Lubbock to be closer to their daughter, Kathy Harris, and their grandchildren Bently, Justin and Kelsey. In Lubbock, Buzz was a member of Lakeridge Methodist Church, as well as the Rotary Club and Scottish Rites Masonry. He had a priceless sense of humor and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his daughter Kathy and husband Stanley Harris; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
