Neva Rogers

GREELEY, Colo. Neva M Rogers passed away on Oct. 15, 2018, at Grace Pointe Senior Residence in Greeley.

She was born the youngest of seven children on Oct. 7, 1923, in Emhouse, Texas, to Lena and Thomas Bruce. After graduating salutatorian at Corsicana High School, she completed one year of college at Hillsboro Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas. In 1944, she met James (Rog) Rogers at a USO dance in Waco, Texas. They married on Jan. 20, 1945, after he completed officer candidate school for the US Airforce. In 1945 she moved to the Akron, Ohio area to live with Rog’s family until the end of the war.

She was a stay-at-home mom to two daughters, but always active in gardening and community service. Rog and Neva moved to Wyoming in 1967. Neva was a Master Gardener, a member of the Grassroots Gals garden club in Torrington for more than 30 years, president of the Wyoming Federation of Garden Clubs from 1981 – 1983, director of the Rocky Mountain Region and a life member of the National Federation of Garden Clubs, serving on the financial committee and as the Scholarship Chairman for the Wyoming Federation for eleven years. She was an accomplished floral designer and judge.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Rogers and daughter, Cheryl Lynn. She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Thompson of Greeley, special friend, Vicki Sears, grandsons Michael Thompson (Sarah) of Binghamton, New York, Aaron Thompson (Kellie) of Bellevue, Idaho, granddaughter, Tracey Baer of Hailey, Idaho and six grandchildren, Kelly, Vincent, Rory, Neva, Maya and Dylan.

A private family celebration will be scheduled at a later date.
