LINGLE – A Celebration of Life for Helga Elisabeth Cook, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Helga died June 29, 2023 at Banner Community Hospital and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.  

Helga was born June 26, 1944 in Sagan, Germany the daughter of Herbert and Elisabeth Seidel. She was raised in Germany where she met Ronald Cook while he was stationed there. They married in 1966 and later moved to the United States to the Lingle area to farm. They moved to Valentine, Nebraska in 1995 and then retired back to Torrington in 2006. She worked as a cook at the Valentine Senior Center and later in Torrington at St Joseph’s Childrens Home and the Torrington Senior Center. 

Helga enjoyed playing bingo, following her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities, and spending time with her family. 

Helga is survived by her husband Ron of Torrington; daughters Katja (Ernie) Cook and Julene (Scott) Cook all of Torrington; son Richard (Brandie) Cook of Lingle; grandchildren Dusty (Nikki)Cook, Shaylee Cook, Kaylynn Cook, Cameron (Megan) Cook, and Kassandra (Miclo) Cruz; and great grandchildren Carter Anderson, Aaliyah Cook, Kenna Bates, Hannah Soliz and Amiyah Cruz. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Fred Reichert; sister Rosemary Betz, and dear friend Yolanda Bartlett.
