TORRINGTON – Funeral services for Dolores G. Marquez, 76, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Ryan Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. 

Dolores died Dec. 1, 2018, at Goshen Healthcare Community. Memorials may be made to the Senior Friendship Center or the Backpack Program at Torrington Middle School. The casket will be closed. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com. 

Dolores was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Las Vegas, N. M., the daughter of James and Estella (Sanchez) Giddings. Her family moved to Wyoming and she attended school in Albin, where she graduated high school in 1960. She married Daniel Marquez on Sept. 28, 1960, in Torrington. 

They moved to California and she attended Riverside City College. They traveled around the country with Daniel being in the US Air Force. They moved to Gering, Neb., in 1978 and she attended Nebraska Western Community Colleg,e where she earned an Associate of Arts Degree. In 1988 they moved to Torrington.

Dolores was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the LDS Church and was a part of the Boy Scouts for 10 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, tatting and needlepoint.

Dolores is survived by six sons Michael Marquez and Christopher Marquez of Torrington, David Marquez of Amarillo, Texas, James Marquez of Laramie, Erik Marquez of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Jordan Marquez of Columbia, Mo.; two daughters Martha Schlager of Torrington and Estella Marquez of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; two sisters Mary Salas of Gooding, Idaho and Rosemary Escobedo of Schafter, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her step-dad; brothers Larry Romero, Jorge Giddings, Isidor Giddings and James Giddings; and a sister Martha.
