TORRINGTON – A grave side memorial service for Clella J. Harris, 100, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington with Pastor Nathan Johnson officiating.
Clella died May 24, 2017 at the Goshen Healthcare Community and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Christ Reformed Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
Clella was born June 3, 1916, at home in Kellerton County, Iowa, the daughter of Randolph and Lillian (Swigart) Foster. Her family moved to the Goshen County area in Wyoming to a farm south of Torrington, where they were for three years. They were on two other farms before moving to Hawk Springs in 1932.
She graduated Torrington High School in 1934. She married Joseph Verbal Harris on June 3, 1934, and the family moved to Basin for eight years. They moved back to Torrington in 1980. She was a homemaker and seamstress all her life.
Clella loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sewing, embroidery, cooking and gardening. She sewed for family gifts and to earn money.
She was a member of the Torrington Presbyterian Church and the Cherry Creek Club.
Clella is survived by a daughter and her husband Grace and Earl Cross; a son and his wife Joseph and Lo Harris; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her parents; her husband Verbal; four brothers, Cleo, Doyle, Victor and Loren; and three sisters, Crystal, Lola and Ruth preceded her in death.
