TORRINGTON – The Torrington Tiger ‘C’ (NE) team picked up a come-from-behind victory on Thursday evening at Jirdon Park.

The Tigers allowed WestCo to score nine runs in the top of the first inning, but when the dust settled, Torrington came away with a 13-12 victory.

In the first inning, seven of WestCo’s nine runs came before the Tigers managed to record an out.

Torrington answered with two runs in the home half of the first, courtesy of a passed ball and an RBI groundout by Wyler Fisher.

The visitors scored two more in the second, but it proved to be the final runs WestCo scored until the final inning.

Over the next three innings, the Tigers chipped away at the deficit.

In the bottom of the fourth, trailing 11-7, Matthew Cook got the inning started with a single and a stolen base. Mac Hibben singled Cook over to third base, and a double steal brought in Cook. Later in the inning Ryan Moorehouse scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 11 and Fisher stole home to put the Tigers in front for the first time in the game.

The Tigers added a run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 13-11.

In the top of the seventh, WestCo looked to extend the game, adding a run and loading the bases with one out, but Hibben closed out the game in relief to tally the save.

The Tigers also opened conference play on Tuesday evening with 5-3 and 9-4 wins over Douglas.

The Tigers (NE) team hosts Gillette at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 3.
