NIOBRARA COUNTY – Many members of the community braved the cold on Saturday, April 22 for the Operation Remount Corporation “Charity Auction” at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds. 

All funds raised from this event went to support Operation Remount’s program for veterans and first responders. The program pairs wild mustangs with veterans and first responders in an effort to help them overcome their traumatic experiences.

There was a variety of items to be auctioned off including, electronics, tools, antiques, tack, home, lawn/garden and other miscellaneous items. All of these items were donated by generous members of the organization or members of the community.

“I was really amazed at the generosity of a lot of the people and the things they donated,” Karen Alexander, co-owner of Operation Remount Corporation, said.

The auction raised around an astounding $8,300 for the organization. That amount does not include the additional donations made directly to the organization during the event. All of these proceeds will go into providing lodging and groceries, aiding with the participant’s travel expenses and the construction of additional facilities. 

In addition to the other donations, Matney Auction Service, LLC also donated their time and talent to the auction. 

“A huge thank you to Matney Auction Services,” Karen said. “There are not enough words to express our gratitude for everything. Thank you to all those who donated items. Thank you to the community members who showed up to help support us.”

“I’m amazed at the support that we get for this program,” Kelly Alexander, co-owner of Operation Remount Corporation, added. “I cannot say enough how much we appreciate the communities that we live in and work in.”

It’s great to see the community come together in support of a great cause and in support of helping veterans and first responders. 

Operation Remount Corporation is located at 12080 US Highway 85 outside of Jay Em on the Mirrored K Legacy Ranch.

The next event for Operation Remount is the second annual Spring Mustang Rendezvous that will be held on June 10 at 9 a.m. at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds. After that, the next event will be the Open House and Graduation on Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at Mirrored K Legacy Ranch.

One special fundraiser they do is the brick fundraiser. For $100, you can order a brick honoring a veteran or first responder that will be placed on the property on their future walk path.
