Torrington mother remains missing

Posted

TORRINGTON – It has been more than two months since the family of Azia Diane Saldana, age 33, has had any contact with their loved one.

Lisa Castro and her husband of Torrington last reportedly saw their only child on August 26, 2023 when she left their home on foot to play CowboySkills games at the Western Travel Terminal located on east highway 26 in Torrington.

Saldana, a mother of four, is described as a 5’6 to 5’7 Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. She has multiple tattoos, two cheek piercings and she also has her septum pierced. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a black and grey sweatshirt with ‘WORD’ printed on it. She has struggled with prior drug addiction and she often disappears.

“There has been a lot of information stating it is believed that Azia went to Colorado but there has been no proof or confirmed sightings of her there,” Private Investigator, Stacy Koester said. “At this time, there hasn’t been one confirmed sightings, just rumors and speculation.”

Koester, who volunteers her time to help the families of missing people with Wyofind through Road Warriors for the Missing, has been working on Saldana’s case for the past few weeks.

“We have sent down flyers with contact information and are looking at preparing a feet-on-the-ground search. Any persons interested in assisting with this can reach out to me at (307) 299-6710. It needs to be known that anyone joining the search needs to be clean as well as we will not allow people on drugs to help us search,” Koester said.

The Castros stated Saldana often disappears but she does reach out to family and her long time on and off boyfriend, Dylan Prahl, when she is gone.

“She’s never told us where she goes, and she always comes back with Dylan,” Castro said. “Miraculously, she appears with Dylan, disappears with Dylan and reappears with Dylan. That’s why I can’t believe she hasn’t contacted him.“

As temperatures drop and winter heads to the area, concern continues to grow for the missing woman.

“Our investigations team is continuing to collect information, follow up on leads, and collaborate with other agencies related to the status of Azia Saldana.” Torrington Police Department said in a recent post on their Facebook page. “Over the last several days, we have received information that is helpful to the investigation. Unfortunately, that information has not yet revealed Azia’s location, status or well-being. As time passes, our, and her family’s concern for her safety grows,” the police department added.

“I’m just so broken, so lost and just want answers. I need my Azia home,” Castro said.

“Any information someone has that will help locate Azia and bring her home to her family will stay confidential,” Koester said. “Somebody knows something.”

If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Saldana, please contact Detective Maestas at the Torrington Police Department at (307) 532-7001 or Private Investigator Stacy Koester at (307) 299-6710.
