LINGLE – Seasonal events, maintenance and traffic were all topics discussed at a brief Lingle Town Council meeting Thursday evening.
Bill Carr of the Lingle-Fort Laramie Lions Club announced the annual Community in the Park is scheduled for Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. He requested the use of Whipple Park, and the council agreed to waive all fees associated with use of the park and pool for the event.
Traffic generally picks up throughout the summer – especially during the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally and, this year, the eclipse – and Police Chief Endra Moen said she responded to 143 calls for service since the last meeting, which includes 124 traffic-related issues.

Town Maintenance Supervisor Larry Haeffelin and his crew have also kept busy with seasonal work. Over the last few weeks, Haeffelin reported they finished the horseshoe pits, poured concrete, submitted monthly and yearly water samples, mowed and trimmed trees. Town Maintenance also removed a large branch that fell on lines during a recent storm.
In other business:
• The council agreed to pay bills for June totaling more than $107,000.
• Clerk-Treasurer Michele Sussex reported the town will submit a grant to the Wyoming Business Council for the Community Center project next quarter. She also said there is a need for a new maintenance contract for the air-conditioning unit at the Senior Center.
