Southeast FFA hosts speaking contest

YODER – The Southeast FFA Chapter hosted its annual Chapter Speaking Contest on Dec. 11, at the school.

In this event, members have the opportunity to compete in three different speaking events: creed speaking, interview contest, and prepared speaking. These events allow members who wish to push themselves out of their comfort zones try something new and face America’s number one fear: public speaking.

Many students competed in these three events, and the top two in creed and prepared speaking and top winner of interview will move on to the regional contest in an attempt to make it to State Convention. For creed speaking, fourth place was Jakob Llewellyn, third place was Elise Coupe, second place went to Marjie Schmitt, and first place goes to Bree Coxbill. For interview contest, Jessie Garson won first place. Following her was Carly Keller in second, Danielle Clapper in third and Jadyn Hall in fourth.  Finally, for prepared speaking, Kaci Schmick earned first place, Ashley Tosh earned second, Jacob Chapman placed third, and Dylan Cline was fourth. Huge thank you to our judges for taking time to help our members succeed. The judges included Dede Buckhaults, Renee Stoddard, Brandy Tighe, Teresa Milner, Tim Toedter, Brett Wilker, Gary Alps, Matt Heilburn, Brent Mullock, and Derek Jackson. Congratulations to our Chapter Speaking Contest winners, and good luck at the regional contest.
