YODER – One value that the FFA truly believes in is giving back to the community. That is what members of the Southeast FFA chapter have been doing for many years now, helping support the communities that have supported them for many years. To support them, the chapter chooses a community to give back to for 2 years in the form of community service work. In recent years, they have helped in multiple communities such as LaGrange and Goshen County Fair Grounds, but most recently the members chose to serve the Hawk Springs community in several ways.
The members first served this community by cleaning up the dead tree row behind the Hawk Springs Community Building. This first part was done in the summer of 2016. Members came and gave it several hard-worked hours, and succeeded in picking up and removing the dead trees and sticks. Following this success, the members came back the next year and chose to return some of the plant life by planting new trees. In front of the Community Building, the members planted seven new trees, which, when grown, will provide both a beautiful look to the area and shade for members of the community
to enjoy.
The Southeast FFA chapter is always glad to give back whenever possible, and providing this service to the Hawk Springs community was an example of just that. It was a meaningful service that the chapter was thrilled to do in order to express their gratitude to those that provide the chapter with continuous support, and the chapter looks forward to providing more services for local communities in the future years to come.
