Soup Cook-off set at Farmers Market

Posted

TORRINGTON – It’s time to get your friends or coworkers together, dust off Grandma’s old recipe or create your own, for the first Goshen County Soup Cook-off.
Bring your soup creation to the Farmers Market on Thursday, Oct. 12 and let the taste buds do the judging.
The registration fee is $10 per team, and team or individual entries are welcome. Winners will be determined by people’s choice, so please plan to make at least three gallons of soup so you don’t run out, or you may miss out on some votes. Creative soup names are also encouraged.
All soup lovers are invited to come out to the market beginning at 4 pm at City Park to pick your favorite soup. For $5, you get a soup bowl, provided by the James C. Hageman Sustainable Research and Extension Center. You will then be able to sample each soup for free and vote for your favorite.
Proceeds will go to support the market and the school backpack program, which provides food to needy families in Goshen County. Please register by Thursday, Oct. 5 by stopping by the Farmers Market or by contacting Caleb Carter at the Goshen County Extension Office at (307) 532-2436 or at ccarte13@uwyo.edu.
