Rooster Booster off with a bang

TORRINGTON – For the last 27 years, the Goshen County Rooster Boosters (Rooster Boosters) have donated funds throughout Goshen County. Donations totaling well over $50,000 have been spread to organizations, clubs, causes and children’s activities with proceeds from the annual Rooster Boosters Banquet and Auction.

The banquet, traditionally held on the opening day of pheasant season in Goshen County, hosts a few hundred people every year.

“The attendance was down a little bit this year, maybe 50 to 75 people, but there were enough seats,” Jasen Kaufman, Rooster Boosters President, said. “All of the auctions went well.”

The rendezvous center at the Goshen County Fairgrounds quickly filled up with community members, young and old. Children were excited to see the selection of toys.

Tables inside the kids’ area were filled with stuffed animals, collectable horses, Barbies and Nerf gear. Children purchased tickets for a chance to play games, like stacking cups and a ring toss, to win prizes while parents visited with neighbors and friends during the social hour that began earlier in the evening.

Many items were donated to the Rooster Boosters for the auctions held throughout the evening. Written bids were taken for items like a painting of Big Horn Sheep, a fishing pole and tackle box and a still-frame black and white photo of any old weathered barn.

The lady’s booth at the banquet had many Wyoming-made items to bid on as well as jewelry and beauty gift sets while the men’s area was packed with turkey decoys, duck decoys and hunting apparel.

The kitchen was full of members of the Rooster Booster. They quickly worked to prepare and serve the community a dinner of pork tenderloin, baked beans and potato salad. Many friendly faces walked into the kitchen to thank the workers for the meal.

The event also raffled off a large selection of guns. In the line-up this year were youth shot guns, BB Guns, lady’s guns and men’s firearms.

Overall the evening was a great evening for all who attended.

“We thank everybody for coming and all of the donations,” Kaufman added.
