LINGLE – In-town residents must register their dogs, Police Chief Endra Moen reminded attendees at the Lingle Town Council meeting Wednesday evening.
“We have some new people (who) have moved to town who may not know this,” Moen said. “I’m occasionally coming across new dogs in yards and reminding residents they need to license them.”
License fees are $5 for dogs that are spayed and neutered and $7.50 for animals that are not. Pet owners who live within town limits must also provide proof of rabies shot, including tag number and expiration dates. Registration is available at Lingle Town Hall during regular business hours.
In other business:
• Moen also reported she responded to 30 incidents in the last two weeks, 24 of which were traffic-related. In addition, she is enrolled in domestic violence classes that begin this month.
• Lingle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kasey Bangerter said responders handled three ambulance calls and one fire last month. Bangerter also announced Mike Hofer passed his emergency medical technician exam, bringing the department’s EMT total up
to four.
• Lingle Pool Manager Brandi Hill stated the pool received a $17,000 grant from the Goshen County Recreation Board, and has ordered new equipment for the pool, including 500 pounds of chlorine, a new slide, new handrails, 12 new lounge deck chairs, 12 regular chairs, umbrellas and stands, resurfacing kits for the diving board, and more.
• Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Nakisha Garner said election filings ended March 30 – two individuals filed for mayor and two filed for open council seats.
• Maintenance Supervisor Larry Haeffelin reported his department needs to plan an approximate one-hour power outage for the town for substation work in the near future. He said he would look at dates during the first week in June to minimize issues for residents. The town will notify residents of a specific date and time prior to the outage.
• The Town of Lingle will host a “Fact or Fiction Night” regarding the proposed new community center on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Lingle Legion Hall.
Residents are encouraged to attend, listen and ask questions about the building – expected to be built at the site of the current Lingle Legion Post No. 63, located at 229 Main St., along with the renovation of an existing, adjacent facility at 237 Main St.
