Mayor's letter on COVID-19

Posted

City of Torrington,

As you’ve likely heard, there is one confirmed case of the Corona Virus in Wyoming. That person is located in Sheridan.

The chance of an outbreak in our community remains relatively low. But you should continue to take the proper precautions to keep yourself, your co-workers and your family as protected as possible.

The Centers for Disease Control, Governor Gordon in his message yesterday, and the city of Torrington concur on the following guidelines: Avoid close contact with those who are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth (easier said than done). Stay home if you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, your elbow, etc. to prevent spread of droplets. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available use a hand sanitizer.

Follow Public Health advice regarding closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures. And finally, stay informed. CDC’s COVID-19 Situation summary is updated frequently and available online.
