TORRINGTON – Memorial services for Lois Benninghoven Johnson, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Mathis officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Lois died Nov. 9, 2017, at Goshen Healthcare Community and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to Goshen Healthcare Community. The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.  

Lois was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Pabroni, Colo., the daughter of Kirk and Ethel (Patch) Peterson. She grew up and received her education in Colorado. She moved to Pasco, Wash., where she met George Benninghoven. They were married there on April 2, 1950. They moved to Lyman, Neb., for a short time before moving to Yoder. She worked as a cook at the Huntley school for a time. They lived in Yoder until after George’s death in 2000. She met and later married Eldon Johnson on Jan. 26, 2003, and they lived in Torrington. 

Lois enjoyed sewing, baking, playing the piano, painting paint-by-number and volunteering at the Care Center entertaining the residents. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. 

Lois is survived by her husband Eldon Johnson of Torrington; four daughters Lynda (Craig) LaMountain of Loma Linda, Calif., Edith (Guy) Ransom of Modesto, Calif., Patti Benninghoven of Yoder and Paula (Tom) Jenkins of Torrington; a son Rick (Terry) Benninghoven of Cheyenne; a sister Shelly Schuber of Palos Verde, Calif.; a brother Glenn (Joan) Peterson of California; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; one brother; and one sister.
