LINGLE – Honoring a pledge made months ago, the Lingle-Fort Laramie Lions Club officially presented the Lingle Town Council with $2,000 for the new community center at a regular meeting Wednesday.

“The Lions Club hopes to be able to use the (center) with a dedicated meeting room for the L-FL Lions Club … and be able to hang the club charter and banner on the wall of that room,” Lion Bill Carr said. Kerri Rose was also on-hand to present the check.

The L-FL Lions Club meets twice a month. It was chartered on Nov. 7, 1943, with 56 members and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2018. The Lions Club is the only service club in Lingle able to make donations and complete community projects each year, Carr said. There are currently 18 members.

In other business:

n Mayor George Siglin introduced new Clerk-Treasurer Richard Reyes. Look for upcoming issues of the Guide and Telegram for a feature on Reyes.

n Representatives from Wyoming Child and Family Services requested a three-percent funding match from the town to utilize grants for developmental services. The town agreed to continue to support the organization, as allotted in the annual budget.

n Goshen County Library Director Joan Brinkley informed the council the library will soon mail out a county-wide survey, in addition to offering an online option, to determine the best way to bring its services to all residents.

“We have the ability to do things differently and make our services as accessible as possible,” Brinkley said.

n Police Chief Endra Moen reported 21 incidents during the last two weeks, including nine community contacts and nine traffic stops. She advised a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new police vehicle is planned in the near future.

n The town thanked Maintenance Supervisor Larry Haeffelin and Assistant Jeremy Ochsner for clearing the roads during a recent snowstorm.

n The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. at Lingle
Town Hall.
