GOSHEN COUNTY – An older Goshen County man is one of three recent deaths related to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

According to a release from the Wyoming Department of Health on Thursday the man died “earlier this month” in an out-of-state hospital after being exposed to the virus in Wyoming. Details, including age, point of exposure and where the man died, were not reported in the release.

This is the second death of a Goshen County resident attributable to COVID-19. It was not clear if the latest individual had other health conditions which placed him at higher risk from the virus.

Elsewhere in the state, a Natrona County man, who did have underlying health conditions leading to increased risk, died last week. He was hospitalized at the time of his death, the release said.

And an older resident of Park County who also had underlying health conditions died within the last seven days. He had not been hospitalized.

Deaths among Wyoming residents are added to the state’s coronavirus-related death total based on official death certificate information and the location of the person’s permanent residence. Deaths among Wyoming residents who pass away in other states are not counted in both states. If death certificates do not describe COVID-19 as either causing or contributing to a person’s death, those deaths are not included in Wyoming’s count of coronavirus-related deaths.

Among Wyoming residents, there have now been 49 coronavirus-related deaths, 3,866 lab-confirmed cases and 700 probable cases reported since the pandemic began.
