TORRINGTON - Elwood “Woody” Eugene Church, 40, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and cremation has taken place.
Woody was born on Dec. 26, 1976, in Wilmington, Del., the son of Elwood Sr. and Naomi (Valutas) Church. Naomi moved to Torrington in 1988, where Woody received his education, graduating from Torrington High School in 1996. Woody had a love of motorcycles and NASCAR and was a collector of Dale Earnhardt Sr. memorabilia. His passions included music (his favorite band being Pink Floyd) and drawing. He was a great friend and would do anything for someone in need. Woody was a loving son and father.
Survivors include his mother Naomi (Dale) Maude of Torrington; father Elwood Church Sr. of Baird, Del.; five children, Johanna, Tristan, Kolby, Isaiah and Alexandria; girlfriend, Crystal Borm and her daughter Miyaca; four grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Colyer Funeral Home to help Woody’s family with expenses.
