GOSHEN COUNTY – Political newcomer Shelly Duncan, R-Lingle, earned the House District No. 5 Representative seat Tuesday, with 2,760 Goshen County votes, or 76.69 percent. Democrat Joan Brinkley, Torrington, received 798 votes, or 22.17 percent.

“’The real gift of gratitude is that the more grateful you are, the more present you become,’ – Robert Holden. This quote sums up my journey throughout this political endeavor,” Duncan said. “My family, friends and community support has been overwhelming! I’m excited to be a voice for our community and continue my commitment of advocacy for homeowners and private property rights. It’s an honor to be chosen by our community to represent them in Cheyenne, and I look forward to serving.”

“I thought it was an amazing experience, getting to run for office,” Brinkley said. “I met so many people locally and got to know some of the candidates running for the statewide offices.

“It is just great to know so many capable people are taking an interest in the state. Congrats to Shelly for her win – I am sure she will do a great job in Cheyenne for us.”
