Crack fill project has expected start date

TORRINGTON – The crack fill project is expected to begin around the city on Monday, Dec. 6. 

Highway Improvement of Sioux Falls, South Dakota won the bid to take on the project in the amount of $59,175. The annual crack fill project will take place on nine streets and will consist of applying 78,900 linear feet of hot mix joint sealant. 

The Torrington City Council approved the bid during the council meeting on Sept. 21. 

Project Manager Mark Weiss said residents on the effected streets should move their cars off the street before the project begins. Weiss also said it shouldn’t last more than a couple days and residents cand move their cars back when they see the construction has passed where they live. 

The effected streets include 29th Avenue from East A Street to East D Street, 28th Avenue from East A Street to East D Street, 20th Avenue from East P Street to airport parking lot, East F Street from 17th Avenue to 25th Avenue, East G Street from 17th Avenue to 22nd Avenue, East H Street from 17th Avenue to 22nd Avenue, East I Street from 15th Avenue to 25th Avenue, East J Street from 15th Avenue to 17th Avenue, East K Street from 15th Avenue to 17th Avenue, and East P Street from US Highway 26 to 20th Avenue. 

The proposal for the project requires the contractor to finish the project within 30 days of the Dec. 6 start date.
